Residents are empowered to engage their potential as scholars and leaders through self governance and participation in residential area activities and leadership. Incoming students should bring a valid government issued photo id driver s license passport or us military id in order to obtain their university of virginia id card. Welcome back to grounds.

Move in and move out we re here for you. Housing residence life works collaboratively to create open welcoming communities on grounds for students at the university of virginia. While in the past this has been a one day event it will now be a multiple day process with various move in blocks. Each student s university id card will be activated allowing access to that student s room on the day of their move in appointment.

This will be a challenge for the entire uva community and one that will require all of us doing our very best every day to make smart decisions to care and look out for. New first year students must be moved in by sunday august 23 at noon in order to begin their extended orientation process that will start that afternoon. All students should attend at least one floor meeting at the start of the semester. A variety of events and programs are being planned for the first few weeks of the fall 2020 academic term to help prepare you for life at uva acclimate you to grounds build connections with your peers and help you find your place and chart your course at the university.
